Madeleine Church and the History of Luxury Brands part II – Guided tour with Xenia
All are welcome for Part II with Xenia. Part I was held in September and took place in Vendôme Square and was a huge success!
Starting from the Madeleine Church, this tour first describes the development of the west end of Paris from the 18th century onwards. It soon became a fashionable district that required an appropriate church. The Madeleine Church however was only completed in the 19th century with a decoration reflecting the latest artistic currents.
This area soon became the home of some of the greatest luxury brands, but in the beginning it was just about some creative people with a vision: Christian Dior had the sensitivity to understand the postwar needs, the Hermès family stayed loyal to their craftsmanship, Jeanne Lanvin became the definition of elegance and finally Coco Chanel changed the body and the mind of women. Through the windows of these shops, we will point out how tradition still lives on.
Group size: 20 members
Meeting Point: at the main gate, at the bottom of the stairs, in front of the Madeleine Church.
